Dive-Tech: Technical diving bookshop

The following books are some of the most useful and informative guides to technical diving. All are highly recommended as background reading on technical diving. However they are no substitute for experience and training.

Introduction to Technical Diving Introduction to Technical Diving A great introduction to the world of technical diving. Rob Palmer (sadly now deceased) was one of the pioneers of technical diving in the UK. This book provides a quick tour through many different aspects of technical diving including development, techniques and theory, psychological and physiological reactions, gas blending, cave diving, re breathers, what to do if you miss a deco stop, what not to do, etc. etc. Quite readable for any open water diver, essential reading for anyone thinking about taking it further.
Essentials of Deeper Sport Diving Essentials of Deeper Sport Diving "This volume provides an excellent review of the wide variety of problem areas currently of concern for deeper diving...his coverage is thorough and comprehensive, and provides necessary detailed information...especially in the realm of deeper diving. Therefore, I highly recommend this excellent book to all divers."--Peter B. Bennett, Ph.D., Exec. Dir, Divers Alert Network
Deep Diving, Revised: An Advanced Guide... Deep Diving, Revised: An Advanced Guide... Tom Mount really did 'write the book' when it comes to technical diving. This is one of the best descriptions of deep diving ever published. Some of the arguments for deep air diving may now be a little out of fashion but the overall approach and the information presented is still very relevant to todays technical diver.
Technical Diving from the Bottom Up Technical Diving from the Bottom Up This is a much more up to date and detailed book than the others books above. In places it has the feel of a set of course notes pulled together but this doesn't distract from the fact that it is the most comprehensive and deteiled guide to technical diving that is available today. Aimed more as a reference for those already doing technical diving rather than an introductory text it is a must for any serious technical diver.
Deep Descent: Adventure and Death Diving... Deep Descent: Adventure and Death Diving... Kevin McMurray tells the story of the Andrea Doria and of the diver who have subsequently lost their lives on this famous wreck. It is good reading for any aspiring technical diver as it is a case study in what not to do. It makes sobering ready but also helps to put in context the need for training, fitness and self discipline in technical diving.
Fatal Depth: Deep Sea Diving, China... Fatal Depth: Deep Sea Diving, China... Another telling of the story of the Andrea Doria and the diver who have died in the search for artifacts on this tragic wreck.
Bennett and Elliot Physiology and Medicine of Diving Physiology and Medicine of Diving Bennett and Elliott's Physiology and Medicine of Diving (latest edition edited by Brubak and Neumann) is the definitive reference on diving medicine, hyperbarc treatment and decompression theory. It is extremely well known to doctors and researchers working in this field and its editors and contributors are internationally recognized as experts on the subject. This new edition has been thoroughly updated to reflect the latest developments in the field.
Diving and Subaquatic Medicine Diving and Subaquatic Medicine Now in it's fourth edition, Diving and Subaquatic Medicine remains the leading text on diving medicine. This completely revised edition covers the newly described diseases of diving medicine, the modern types of diving and diving equipment, free and indigenous diving, as well as updating the previous edition's coverage of established diving disorders. Each medical disorder is discussed from an historical, aetiological, clinical, pathological, preventative and therapeutic perspective in the accessible but informative style that has made the previous editions so popular.
